What’s the average price to install a large pendant light fixture?
We have a large pendant light fixture that’s almost like a chandelier, but it’s fairly simple and light weight. It’s just not a mini pendant or anything, that’s my point.
We’d like to have it installed above our side table in the living room. There is no electrical box there. But there is some wiring from an unused fan box in the middle of the room, so the wires from their could be rerouted to the existing switch.
What do you think the quote should be for this installation? 1st guy has quoted $200.
It’s a ranch style home so there is easy access to the attic above the ceiling
The fixture is not really heavy.. it’s very light b/c the main decorative part is capiz shells. I beleive the assembly isn’t TOO complicated as they are probably attached in a metal ring already hanging down on strings.
$200 seems reasonable. The electrician will have to replace the wire to the existing box and re-route it to the new box, while installing a fan-support box as well. A fan support box must be used for any ceiling fan OR heavy light fixture. He will have to go up into the attic for this. He will also take a lot of time to assemble the chandelier, as there are probably a lot of parts, and they all need to fit together correctly.
I would probably charge $150 for this, the same price as I’d charge to install a ceiling fan in a room. With fixture assembly, it’s about the same amount of time and work.
