The plating can also be modified and there are basically three types; polished, matte/gun metal and black chrome. Taking care of your new chrome wheels does require some work. As long as you take care of them, they will last for a long time. Use a professional chrome polish and a polishing cloth. Your wheels will get dirty and greasy, so take care. Being as most of these wheels are open, you will also get brake dust on them. Clean them when they are cool and this debris will come right off and you will not jeopardize the quality of the chrome.
It is also important to be sure that they will fit your car. Many people like having bigger tires than the manufacturer supplied them with, so before you spend your hard earned money on new wheels, be sure to know that they will fit in your wheel wells. But most importantly, make selections that actually work with your car. You may not want spoke wheels on a truck or matte wheels on a luxury car. Remember the idea is to make it look better, not to look silly!
Shop around. Look online, as there are many sites that will actually have your car that you can customize with new chrome wheels rims and at least get a feel of how it will look. There are some wheels that will literally change the entire appearance of your car. If that is what you are looking for, then do a makeover. The looks that you get from people as you pass by will be a great reward and reinforcement that you made the right buying decision.
